Defects without a redraw: remove, crop, mark the good ones

Not every defect is worth fixing: an ordinary shot is easier to remove from the book, and an extra arm at the edge is easier to cut off. For this the picture viewer has the “Book:” and “Mark:” rows under the “Defect:” row. None of these actions deletes the picture.

  1. Remove from the book (H key) — the shot leaves the book, the export and the review, but the picture stays intact. To bring it back, use the same button, now called Return to the book. A removed shot keeps its defect mark, but it is not counted as a defect and does not go into the fix. The buttons of the “Book:” row appear on shots accepted into the scene text.
  2. To remove all marked defects at once, use the button in the defects bar of the “Illustrations” section. It asks whether to remove all marked shots or all but the key ones — key shots are usually worth fighting for. The line below counts the removed shots; Return all brings them back into the book.
  3. Crop (C) — cut off the edge with the defect. Drag the picture with the mouse and zoom with the wheel: the proportions stay as in the shot, and each side keeps at least 70 %, so that the picture does not get too small in the book. Click Done — put it in the book: the cropped variant goes into the book, the previous one stays in the variants strip, and the defect mark is removed.
  4. Good (G) — the picture came out well. Where the program picks pictures itself — the analysis video, promotion, the cover — good ones go first. A picture cannot be good and defective at once: one mark removes the other.
  5. Key (K) — an important moment of the scene; the button appears on shots from the storyboard. A key shot has a gold border; it goes into the export when “Key frames” is chosen for pictures, and it is the first to go into videos. A second click removes the mark.
