Backup copies and a second computer
Your novels belong to your account, not to one computer: everything you accept is saved by itself after every accepted scene. You can move to another computer, or bring a novel back after a loss, without any preparation.
- Before you move, accept the current scene. Edits that are not accepted yet stay on the computer where you made them.
- On the new computer, install the AuthorWorkplace Bridge application. On the portal, in the “Computer” block, click Pair another computer and type the code it shows into the application window.
- Your novels move to the new computer by themselves. Click Go to my novels and keep writing. You can write on one computer at a time: on the previous one Bridge will say “Another workspace is connected” and stop working.
- Set up the AI connection on the new computer again: keys and sign-ins to AI programs do not move. Videos and cards built in the “Promotion” section also stay where they were built — download the pack you need in advance.
- To go back to the previous computer, click Connect here in the Bridge window there — work continues on that computer.
- Lost a novel, or need its earlier state? On the portal, open the “Backup copies” block, find the novel and click Restore this copy. You never have to make copies: they appear by themselves as you work.
- If you already have this novel, the portal will offer Restore as a separate book: the copy appears next to it in the novel list under its own title, and your current novel stays as it is. The separate book gets the text, the canon and the edit history, but not the illustrations — the pictures stay with your current novel.
